Holi is just around the corner! While it is a fun-filled and colourful festival, your skin needs little extra care in order to prevent the damage caused from chemicals in colours. Even if you use organic colours, you still need to shield your skin, as you spend quite a good time under the sun and in water splashes that can make your skin look dull and damaged. Here are few tips that will help you safeguard your skin from the after effects of Holi.
Apply Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C serum has high amount of antioxidants which provides a protective layer on the skin to refrain the colours to stick to the skin. The Indie Earth Vitamin C Serum is also rich in Vitamin E, which provides deep nourishment to the skin and does not let the colours damage your skin easily.
Sunscreen Lotion– Shield your skin from Sun rays as well as colours
When you are out to play Holi, there are many things your skin is exposed to – colours, sun, dust, water etc. A good sunscreen with high SPF (preferably 30 or above) and water-resistance will add a layer of protection to your skin. It will block the harmful chemicals from coming in contact with your skin. Apply the sun screen lotion, on all the body parts which are exposed. If possible, carry the sunscreen with you and keep re-applying it every 2-3 hours. The colours can react with the UV rays and may cause irritation and rashes on the skin. If you have dry skin, first apply the sunscreen, wait for a few minutes and then apply a moisturizer.
Keep yourself hydrated
Drinking good amount of water or juices, will help your skin to stay hydrated, which will eventually help in preventing dryness and dullness. Since you are about to spend lot of time under the sun, drinking lot of water can also help in protecting your skin from sunburns.
Post-Holi skincare
Since you have followed a good pre-Holi skincare, there are less chances of skin damages. However, little bit of post-Holi care will help your skin to recover and glow faster.
Remove the colours gently
Rinse the face with plenty of plain water and a gentle cleansing foam. A foaming face wash will be better suited as it will help in getting the colours off from the skin. Apply it and lather for 30 seconds before you wash off your face. After drying your face, take a few drops of Kumkumadi Tailam and apply it on your face. Massage your face gently with it for 5 minutes and let it be on your skin.
If you have oily skin, apply sunscreen instead of Kumkumadi Tailam, even if you are inside the home.
Cleanse – tone – moisturise
After couple of hours, begin to follow your Cleanse-tone-moisturise routine when the skin starts getting back to normal. If you want to use scrub on face, it’s better to use it after 48 hours after playing Holi.
Little amount of pre and post Holi care will help you in protecting your skin from getting any problem.
Have a safe and colourful Holi!
